FAQ IPRF facial

How long does it take to see results from a iPRF facial?

The full effects appear within a few weeks to months.

How many PRP injections do you need?

Researchers have found that most patients who get results have 3 or more treatments.

What is i-PRF?

The next generation PRP is Injectable platelet rich fibrin or (i-PRF) uses the patient’s own blood plasma which is enriched with:

Platelets (source of healing proteins and growth factors)

Fibrin (the wound healing and regeneration matrix)

Stem cells (the conductors of our body’s own healing and regenerative orchestra of healing and regeneration molecules).

After your blood is taken, it is spun in a centrifuge at low speed to obtain the Platelet Rich Fibrin. The slow spin preserves platelet integrity, meaning better results.

The mixture of activated platelets, leukocytes (white blood cells) and mesenchymal stem cells promote the formation of new collagen, fibroblasts and elastin tissues, improving skin elasticity and complexion.

This can then be injected via a very fine needle (technique used in mesotherapy) or micro-needled into the area(s) of concern, to activate healing and regeneration. Although this is from your own body, no area would naturally get exposure to such a potent concentration of bio stimulating and regenerative cells. However, the process that is triggered is totally innate and natural.

i-PRF intensifies the functioning and reproduction of cells, thus having a gentle, gradual yet long lasting and accumulative effect. As a result, new fibroblasts, collagen and elastin tissues are formed, skin elasticity and complexion is improved, and the pigmentation is reduced. Its uses are not limited to skin rejuvenation.

Potential uses:

  • Skin rejuvenation
  • Scarring
  • Stretch marks
  • Hair loss/thinning
  • Acne
  • Periorbital Hyperpigmentation (Dark Eyes)

Treatment time: 30 mins to 1 hour

Results: For hair treatment the regime is one treatment every month for three months so it can take three months for visible results. Results on facial treatment should be seen within three weeks

Downtime:  24- 48 hours

Can i-PRF be used for tear troughs and hair loss?

i-PRF Under Eye filler is a treatment involving your body’s own platelets and growth factors found in
i-PRF are key to helping reverse telltale signs of aging.
i-PRF plasma under eye treatment is a collection of “super-healers” collected in a very meticulous way from your own blood. This concentrated mix is what is responsible for healing bones and fixing cuts in our body. When used in aesthetics- we can place it in a targeted area and the area is stimulated to self-heal and improve its skin tone, volume and texture without any added chemicals or fillers. iPRF is cool!
i-PRF is an all-natural aesthetic solution that uses your own blood to treat specific areas of your face to improve under-eye hollows, skin tone, deflated cheeks and more.

How does a i-PRF under eye treatment work?

Fibrin is a biological scaffold that forms in response to an injury anywhere in the body. Platelets circulating in the blood will bind to a scaffold of fibrin. When platelets bind to the fibrin scaffold, they become activated and release growth factors, which start the wound healing process by creating new skin cells, collagen and blood vessels. By injecting i-PRF into an area on the face or scalp it “kick starts” new cell growth and collagen production.

How is i-PRF used?

i-PRF under eye is used to address many of the same issues as PRP, but i-PRF releases growth factors for much longer, up to one week, versus PRP which releases growth factors for a few hours. This means that PRF has longer-term benefits when introduced to a specific area. The growth factors are what stimulate the stem cells to improve collagen and elastin in the skin.

The prepared i-PRF is immediately ready to plump the hollows under the eyes and dark circles, and to improve skin tone and texture. The i-PRF can also be injected into the scalp to aid with hair restoration and growth.

What causes sunken eyes?

As the body ages, multiple factors cause sunken or hollow eyes. Inevitably, the body will lose bone density and fat in the face, reducing the structure support. A reduced amount of collagen results in the skin becoming thinner. This is part of the natural ageing process, and topical creams will simply not work. Here, enters i-PRF treatment to help sunken-looking eyes.

What Causes Dark Circles?
  1. Dark circles refer to visible darker pigmentation of the infra-orbital areas.  This condition makes people look tired and can affect emotionally people. Even though it is more a cosmetic concern rather than a medical one, it still affects millions of people of both sexes across the World.  Dark Circles touches people of fairer and darker skin. Potential factors that contribute to dark circles include:
    • excessive pigmentation,
    • shadowing due to tear troughs,
    • fat herniation,
    • shadowing due to skin laxity and wrinkles,
    • translucent thin skin.
How does i-PRF Treatment for the face treat under eye loose skin and dark circles?

The skin under the eyes is one of the thinnest skin on our body. It can be one of the first areas that show signs of aging.  I-PRF is one of the ideal treatments that improves this area and can be a better option than heat-based skin tightening devices and dermal fillers. We use the cannula method to administer the i-PRF to the tear troughs. A small introducer needle is used to create an entry point for the cannula. The cannula is then inserted into the puncture site and maneuvered along the natural planes of skin tissue; this provides a large area to place the i-PRF filler through a single entry point.

i-PRF facial rejuvenation can also enhance the results of fillers under the eyes. Injecting fillers under the eyes, can instantly improve the hollowness under the eyes and is a fabulous treatment to instantly rejuvenate this area. However, too much fillers under the eyes can make the eyes look puffy or cause a bluish tinge if injected too superficially. Also, fillers are not a great treatment for under the eyes and cannot treat the crepe skin and lines, they can only add volume and diminish some of the dark circles. The results are usually unsuccessful. Injecting i-PRF in addition to the fillers can significantly enhance the results of the fillers by tightening the loose skin under the eyes and improving the dark circles. We prefer to start with i-PRF and then watch the results unfold prior to opting for additional treatments.

Is i-PRF injection under the eye safe?

I-PRF is extremely safe. Injections carry little side effect or risk since this process involves your own blood with no other additives or medications.

What are the benefits of i-PRF under eye filler?

I-PRF under eye filler is considered a NATURAL aesthetic treatment because it uses your own stem cells and growth factors. i-PRF treatment improves under-eye pigmentation and skin thickness/firmness/texture while providing very subtle subdermal volume.  The results from PRF provide a radiant and more youthful appearance without the risk of puffiness or fluid retention.

What to expect after your PRF under eye filler treatment?

After treatment, it is not uncommon to experience under eye swelling or bruising.  You may experience under eye fullness for 3-5 days after injection and sometimes a yellowish discoloration to the skin until the PRF dissipates. Results of your treatment start to become noticeable at the 1-2 month-mark, as the structures and collagen under the eye continues to build. Most PRF injections have no discomfort afterwards.

How long does PRF under eye treatment last?

We recommend a series 2 or 3 i-PRF treatments approximately one month to 6 weeks apart for best results. Because it usually takes about 4-8 weeks for initial results to appear after i-PRF injection, and results continue to improve for about 3-6 months after injection. Most results will last about 1.5 years after last injection. Therefore, we recommend a yearly maintenance injection after your series is complete. Hyaluronic Acid fillers may be considered 3-6 months after your 3rd injection of PRF.

Can i-PRF help with hair loss?

I-PRF is great for improving hair thickness as it uses the body's own regenerative ability to repair hair loss. It does this by concentrating the i-PRF into the scalp where the hair is thinning. The i-PRF then bathes the hair follicles in a concentrated rich regenerative plasma. This then helps the hairs to grow stronger and thicker.

I-PRF is not a hair loss cure. 60% of men with hair loss are losing their   hair due to testosterone converting to DHT. To prevent the conversion to DHT you need a DHT blocker like minoxidil or finasteride. i-PRF will help to regenerate the hair once this is stopped.

For the remaining 40% of men and all women with hair loss, the reasons for the hair loss can be complicated as it can range from stress to the body’s own defenses against infections turning on the hair follicles. i-PRF will help, but we recommend seeking help and advice from your doctor first to try to find the cause of the hair loss.

I-PRF is micro-needled into the scalp using the Derma Pro microneedle pen.
